69 | 0 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 72 | 81 | Yes | Dale Robertson (RNSYS Handicapper) and Rod Stright performed a detailed review in July 2024. The base rating, based on comparisons to similar or identical boats in other areas. The standard C&C 115 has an oversized pole (SPL 15.95’ which is 10% of J) and the increase proposed is another 10% over that. This boat has an adjustment of 18 sec (as an oversized fractional symmetrical approved by committee 2010/10/19) so its PHRF adjustment as a fractional oversized asymmetrical would be +9. An adjustment is in accordance with item 29 “Add sprit to conventional boat with Fractional ISP in place of a symmetrical spinnaker +6 -3 per 10% of SPL” Since it is an oversized asymmetrical it would be +9 -3 or 6 sec . The proposal is to add a sprit 10% longer that the class SPL in place of a symmetrical. This is consistent with the adjustment applied to an identical modification to a boat called Moon Dog in an area with similar wind, based upon sail area. It was determined after an extensive review of the PHRF handicaps of the C&C 115 the base rating should be 66 not 63. The addition of the proposed sprit to Pandora would result in and increase to 69 with her existing rating and 72 if her base rating was revised to 66. Non spin rating would remain at 81. If this proposal is accepted the wording in the comments section of the rating should simply read “10% sprit addition and matching fractional asymmetrical added, symmetrical spinnaker removed.” | 25-07-2024 |
